Luna's Lotus Birth (Pt. 2)
Sleeping as a family for the first time after Luna arrived was pure bliss. So much anticipation and energy had been built up around this phenomenal event and now that it was over and we were transitioning into a new phase of existence as parents, it just felt so pure and necessary to rest in this space between. During those hours of sleep it was as if the whole Universe was suspended in time and life pulsed only to the rhythm of our three hearts... read more

Preparing For An Unassisted Home Water Birth
I want to start off this post by saying there is really only one thing you need to birth at home, in a hospital or birth center, unassisted or attended, and that is a pregnant woman in labor! While it is so beneficial to be prepared as possible, we think it is important for all women to grasp this very foundational concept, that your body was designed for carrying life and giving birth in the most natural and instinctual way, without help or intervention! Now, that doesn't mean you can't ask for assistance or have people attending... read more
Lotus Birth
When thinking about your birth plan, a big decision revolves around how will you handle the third stage of labor, the cutting of the umbilical cord & delivery of the placenta. Although it is something a lot of families don't consider, it is a very important decision for the health of mother and baby. Most doctors favor clamping and cutting the cord within seconds of birth, whereas midwives... read more
Unassisted Birth: Prenatal Care
We get a lot of questions about how prenatal care is handled when birthing without assistance, and I realized it's something I didn't mention in our last post about Luna's birth day, so I wanted to take the time to address that topic now. Choosing a freebirth really does give you just that... freedom! To pick and choose every step and action along the way that resonates with your intuition and spirit. Some women choose to see an ob/gyn or midwife and some choose to do their own prenatal care. Some choose to participate in ultrasounds and tests, while others don't. The field of obstetrics has created an in-depth system for monitoring women and their womb during gestation, and... read more

Looking forward to relaxing by the lake, enjoying good conversation and scrumptious meals. Lately we've been getting asked a lot of questions about our unassisted birth, what that entails, and how we came to our decision. I want to take a few moments to address these questions and share more of where our hearts are at... read more

Honest have been the only diaper that never leaked with our baby. However, I've been advised by our friends that some other brand of diapers wer equally superior, and I tried them, but went back to using honest diapers again. I actually think that they are the best.
