Bee Wise Body Jewels: Consciously Crafting

We believe that all of creation is Divinely synchronized and meant to work in harmony. This belief guides a lot of how we approach our earthly existence when it comes to things like food, medicine, and the general wellbeing of our bodies and minds. We believe that creation is perfect and not lacking in anything, meaning everything we need can be found within the elements of that Divine creation, including things like cures to cancer and disease epidemics. Food, water, herbs, oxygen, all of these things and more have IMMENSE power that most of us do not give credit to. Even more important might be the lack of credit given to our emotional/spiritual posture and how that plays out in our physical bodies. I'm blessed to have a mother that also values these connections and is living proof that things like cancer can be beaten with food, nutrition, and spiritual health. (GO MOM!!!) We wonder what the world would look like if we gave priority to reconnecting with the gifts of nature. I think it would be a much healthier, happier planet, and our goal is to do all we can to make that shift, and to hopefully influence others to do the same.

On our trip to visit my Grandpa in New Mexico this past summer, I was reminded of his life's work as a studied geologist, and how I've always felt a special calling towards the earth's minerals and gems, through a love of crystals and rocks. I knew that crystals were said to have healing powers but not until recently had I allowed myself to contemplate what a gift of creation they might truly be. It always seemed a little too "out there" for my mind to grasp but as I started looking into it, I found it to be very simple and easy to understand. The internal crystalline structure of stones and the atomic vibration specific to those structures is what gives them their quality of energy. Certain stones vibrate in a way that resonants with our subtle energy vibrations, which would be things like our emotions and attitudes, and can be used to align and bring healing to an unbalanced body/mind/spirit. Since I'm still learning all about it myself, I'll leave it up to those who are very knowledgable and have dedicated a great amount to the subject to really explain the details (a link I highly recommend checking out!), I simply wanted to give you a little background for the motivation behind our fun new project!

On the last new moon I was inspired to make a crystal grid. More powerful than a single crystal alone, crystal grids are made by placing stones in a geometric pattern for directing energy towards a certain purpose or intention. In this case, ours was dedicated to releasing the past and opening ourselves to the future and all the abundance and love the earth has to offer. We burned candles I had saved from a special trip to Africa when I was 13 as an additional symbol of our intention, and overall just had a very wonderful time praying and bringing in that healing earth medicine. We left the grid out overnight and immediately the next day I felt inspired to make some jewelry pieces out of the crystals we used, something I had dabbled in but never really pursued, and to also share what I was creating with others. Right away the universe responded and we started getting requests, and more than requests for a product, we truly started receiving genuine requests for healing, prayer, and love to be sent in the form of crystal creations, such great keepers of the subtle energies that affect our spirits.

We've spent the past two weeks creating these conscious crafts, talking with and hearing from so many of you amazing people out there, and just really connecting on a deep soul level through this platform of Home In The Hive. It has been so wonderful to feel all the love and support as we pursue our dreams of self-sustainability as a family. Ideally we'd like our own website, and we definitely see that happening in the future, but for now we will be using our Etsy shop to bring you all our handmade goods. We will continue to make grids based on what requests we're getting/what we intuitively feel a need for, and presenting our crafts thereafter. The next intention has been chosen and we are currently putting our energy into gathering stones for a grid dedicated to fertility, balancing male/female energy, the pregnancy process, and reproductive health. Really looking forward to this one and excited for the people who have already reached out about it!

It's always been our dream for Home In The Hive to be an organically creative space and we are still seeing how this adventure will unfold, but whatever it looks like, we are EXCITED! Thank you deeply from our heart centers to yours, for being supportive and partaking in our journey! It's truly a gift to share. We are full to the brim with gratitude for All!

Sakura Bloom // The Sling Diaries

One of our favorite and most useful items to have as parents is our Sakura Bloom ring sling. This company has not only created an awesome product, but an awesome community as well! The Sling Diaries is a photo-documentary project they started that focuses on the art of babywearing. Fifteen families will be chosen to participate in the upcoming series and we have applied! Submissions required 3 of your favorite babywearing photos, along with a written paragraph on the theme of curiosity. This writing "assignment" was so fun! And my little sister of course did an AMAZING job as always, snapping some photos for us in her backyard, capturing our hearts and memories.

Here are some of my favorites from the day, and you can read my thoughts on curiosity below. Regardless of whether our family is chosen, I'm excited for a new series to start and for the opportunity to participate! You can follow along here if you're interested. Thank you again to Sakura Bloom and all the babywearing families out there making this type of project possible! Enjoy and may your hearts be filled with babywearing love!

If curiosity killed the cat, then I wish to die again and again. I am curious to live, curious to breathe, to plant and grow seeds, to climb and swing from trees. I am curious to learn why the nightingale sings and to study the pattern of cicada wings. I am curious to touch the bottoms of seas and feel my feet on sun-kissed mountain peaks. I am curious over new moons, ripe fruits, and the chance to raise a home. I am brimming full of curiosity to hear the sound of my child’s laughter and witness with what delicacy her beautiful limbs will grow. I am curious to see what differences I can make through the ways I love and mother and create. I want to know it all: Head back, arms thrown wide open, embracing every question, turning over all the rocks. Curiosity fans the flame of our creative fires; it is our life blood, the will to live each day anew, revealing the depths of our human spirit, our desire to understand, to connect, to belong. It is one of the first, most basic and most essential emotions one has. When Luna came into this world three months ago, so also was born in Oscar and I a spirit of newfound curiosity. I am gifted daily to discover a new heaven and a new earth through her eyes, watching as she takes in all there is to know with a curiosity found only in those who are humble enough to recognize the great beauty and wonder that lies, not just within themselves, but in the world around them. Wearing my little moon close to me, we are able to follow our curiosities into endless adventure, together discovering the magic as one, heart-to-heart as we grow in love for one another and for the magical spaces we call home.

Echo Lake: A Family Adventure

Summer is officially over and we are easing our way into this new season with curried soups and pumpkin spice lattes. I love this time of year! Being part of an earth that changes as we cycle round the sun, I see how our bodies reflect the varying seasons and their distinguished qualities. With long and lazy summer gone, I feel invigorated by the crisp air and enlightened by a new sense of creativity. Inspiration abounds!

There are a lot of great things in store for us this season, we know. New opportunities for work, a space to call home, a family business, all of these things and more we are striving for! With great joy and an unfaltering belief in limitless possibility, we know these things will be ours.

In the meantime, won't you bask with us in the glory of summer and the amazing photography skills of my little sis! These are from a trip we took to the cabin at Echo Lake, built by my great-grandfather in 1939. My mom spent all of her time there during the summer as a kid, and when that carried on with us kids, I always dreamed of taking my own family there someday. My dream came true when Luna was 4 weeks old, and it is only because of Oscar losing his job that we were able to go. We continue to believe that has been the biggest blessing we could receive!

There are lots more on the cjeanphotography blog! Head on over and hope you enjoy. May this new season find you happy and blessed.
